It’s not always obvious when you have a wildlife problem. There are nocturnal animals that can be smart enough to learn your routine so they can stealthily hide out when you’re outside and then come out when you go to bed. If you can’t hear or see them, here are some other signs that they are around:

• Scattered Trash: This is the most distinctive feature of wildlife activity, as other animals rarely go through garbage bins.
• Damaged Yard and Garden: Wildlife visitors will dig up plants and dirt looking for food.
• Damaged Fence and Structures: If something is in their way, they will bite and claw their way through. 
• Droppings: Wildlife feces can be dark and often contain undigested food, such as seeds and berries. If a family of wildlife visitors is living in your yard, you’ll discover a designated pile of waste.
• Scratch Marks on Trees: Wildlife guests climb trees and, if possible, make a home from the bottom of trees.
• Holes Around Your Deck: Wildlife can hide underneath decks and porches. If your dog excessively sniffs or barks when they are outside, your dog is trying to tell you that they are not the only animal that lives there.
• Strange Noises at Night: Since wildlife are often active at night, a careful ear will pick up rustling around the yard, scratching around the house, and mewing.
