• Scattered Trash: This is the most distinctive feature of a raccoon infestation, as other animals rarely go through garbage bins.
• Damaged Yard and Garden: Raccoons will dig up plants and dirt looking for food.
• Damaged Fence and Structures: If something is in their way, they will bite and claw their way through. 
• Droppings: Raccoon feces are dark and often contain undigested food, such as seeds and berries. If a family of raccoons is living in your yard, you’ll discover a designated pile of waste.
• Scratch Marks on Trees: Raccoons climb trees and, if possible, make a home from the bottom of trees.
• Holes Around Your Deck: Raccoons hide underneath decks and porches. If your dog excessively sniffs or barks when they are outside, your dog is trying to tell you that they are not the only animal that lives there.
• Strange Noises at Night: Since raccoons are active at night, a careful ear will pick up rustling around the yard, scratching around the house, and mewing.
